Serena and John were married at Grand Superior Lodge on the shores of Lake Superior on a lovely September day. They had gotten engaged on a lake and knew they had to get married on one as well – only a bigger one! It was a perfect day and mix of wedding festivities that included an intimate ceremony, a gorgeous moonrise over the lake, dancing and a late-night bonfire by their cabin.
Serena’s dress was a Mia Solano design that was mainly white but featured beautiful black embroidered vines and flowers with stitched in sequins and crystals. The top featured a bunching of the black design with white tulle draped over it. Serena had the back of the dress altered to a corset back that featured black laces. In her words: “the finished product was what she had been searching for all that time, and now she had the perfect dress to marry her perfect man.”
Here is Serena’s summary of the ceremony. “The Sun glistened off of the Lake onto the Couple at their shoreline nuptials performed by the Groom’s Uncle. The Couple wed in front of a Birch Cross Designed by the Mother of the Bride and made by the Bride and Groom to represent their union both with each other and Christ.”
“John’s one request to Serena was to have the woods brought in to the Wedding. So Serena’s Mom designed three displays to be used in the Reception Hall that included real birch tree logs, twinkling lights and draping crystals.”
Lake Superior is such a stunning backdrop for wedding photography…
We took a few minutes during the dance to head back out to the Lake and get some photos with the two of them with the amazing warm colored full moon rise in the background. Once in a lifetime!
Nothing like finishing off your wedding evening with hanging out with friends and family by a bonfire, on Lake Superior, with a full moon!
